The decision of which bike lock to purchase is wrought with trade-offs. The more heavy duty the lock is, the harder for thieves to abscond with your bike. The more light-weight is the lock, the less of an encumbrance it is to your biking experience.
This lock does a decent job of balancing the two considerations. Still, no bike lock is 100% thief-proof. Keeping a bike secure is as much about the lock and hardware as it is about how and where it is locked up. Watch the many videos on YouTube from bike professionals that explain the proper technique to lock a bike to understand.
This bike lock cable is not the heaviest duty lock I've owned, but it's also not the lightest and weakest. For sure, this lock is on the lighter-weight and convenience side of the spectrum. The mechanics of the lock are acceptable and straightforward. The mounting bracket fit my bike fine and is a nice attachment and accessory, especially for the price.
It would also point out that the self-coiling flexible cable is the kind I like. I do not feel like I am fighting with the cable to maneuver it like I sometimes do with others self-coiling cables.
I do not know if I'd use this lock for long-term storage in an less than secure environment, but for short term security it's a great choice.
